Eröffnungskonzert >Magnificat<
Concentus, P. Heras-Casado, N. Rial, S. Harmsen, M. Schade, J. KammlerFirst brought to Melk as a star guest by Artistic Director Michael Schade, he’s been returning to the Baroque Festival as an audience favourite ever since: Pablo Heras-Casado. In his upcoming Melk visit he presents the ›Magnificat‹, one of the central texts of Christianity – in not one but two settings, each of which seems to want to outdo the other in musical splendour. At the opening concert of the Melk Abbey International Baroque Festival 2025, he will show the audience what the works of Bach the Elder and Bach the Younger have in common, and what sets them apart. As always, Concentus Musicus Wien and a fantastic ensemble of soloists just had to be there, as well as Collegium Vocale 1704, first-time visitors to the Baroque Festival.
